Catching Fire review!

(I do not own this picture).

OMG CATCHING FIRE WAS AMAZING. I am a hugeeeeeeee Hunger Games fan girl, I have been for a while now, and was given the first book as a Christmas present, before there was even news of the film, so I consider myself an official proud fan, hehe!  I love all three of the books so much, plus the two films so far, I'd been waiting for what felt like forever for this film to be released!

Firstly, Jennifer Lawrence is definitely the star of the show, she's outstanding, just as she was in the first, and secondly, Katniss (her character) kicks ass, I left the cinema dying to shoot a bow and arrow! She is amazing.  My other favourite character is definitely Caesar, he is so funny, and I love how he brings the comedy element to such a serious plot, he's my icon! (Well,...not really, but I do love him).   I'm not gonna give too much of the plot away, especially if you haven't seen it and are going to, but what I will say is that even though it leaves a few parts of the book out, it definitely does it justice, and along with Harry Potter, one of my favourite book to film adaptations!

Ps. Thank you to those who've given me positive feedback on my blog! :D

Update.

Hello, happy December! December is definitely one of my favourite months of the year, it's so exciting, and everyone seems to be in a jolly mood, yippee! Which would obviously have a little something to do with CHRISTMAS!  So as we've waved goodbye to November (which flew by!), I gathered a few favourite things that I particularly enjoyed, even if some of them are a little random!  Here's a mini update of my November favourites. :)

Tartan!   This past month I have been LOVING tartan, actually loving. I've always loved tartan, especially at the Autumn/Winter part of the year, as I love anything a little grungey, so any excuse!  These tights are a perfect way to jazz up a plain outfit! I wore mine with a plain denim dress, as the tights are the statement item definitely.  I get they aren't for everyone, and are perhaps an arguably brave choice? But if you love tartan, like I do, these are perfect. Mine cost £3 from the one and only Primark.

Next, onto makeup!  I took a cheeky little trip to the Benefit counter early last month, and came away with these two little beauties. The first being "Lemon Aid" eyelid primer, and the "Rockateur" blush/bronzer.

"Lemon aid" :   This is a brilliant eyelid primer, a little pricey (£16.50), but nonetheless a great, high end primer.  I use this over my eyelids before applying my usual neutral shadow, and it gives a creamy lemon colour, but surprisingly blends perfectly with an eyeshadow.  I've been on the lookout for a new eyelid primer as I find that not as many makeup brands stock eyelid primer as you think, I thought it would everywhere, but not so.  This is a really good eyelid primer that I think is going to last me a long time.

"Rockateur": This is THE best blusher I've tried in a long time. I bought this simply because a few weeks previous, the assistant at the Benefit counter told me they stocked a new blush/bronzer that was going to be a big hit, and wondered if I wanted to try it out.  I initially felt VERY sceptical, especially because it was a cross between a blusher and a bronzer, and I steer well clear of bronzers, I'm so pale, I have a phobia of anything "bronze" anywhere near my face.   Boy, was I wrong, this is a beauty! The assistant applied it to my cheekbones, contouring to define them, and my mother, who was with me at the time was impressed by how lovely it looked, as she knows how I like to look, and even she agreed with me, it looked amazing!  I've perhaps conquered my fear of bronzer, and although I wouldn't really be keen on other bronzers, this perfect blush/bronzer combination completely suits my skin tone, and it's the best beauty buy I've discovered in a  long time!

Now something I never thought I'd actually see the day with, baking!  Now up until recently, I have been the most useless cook ever, and I'm talking literally useless, I could cook NOTHING, ordering a Domino's pizza was my idea of "cooking", haha.  But recently, I decided I needed to become a lot more self sufficient and I hated to admit it, more "adult", so I decided to take the plunge, buy a cookbook and get myself into gear, and here are my delicious apple muffins!   I was so proud of myself, as they turned out great! Everyone who tried them loved them, so I'm definitely going to make them again, there's hope for me, yay!

Have a great December!

Happy December! Time for the goofy Christmas jumpers, Christmas films and glitter nails! I've tried to get into the festive spirit now by trying out some glitter nails! For my first attempt, it's ok, as I'm not awesome at doing my nails, so messy and clumsy! They've made me instantly feel a lot more Christmassy, and I can't wait to try more colours :)

I've used Nails Inc silver nail varnish in the shade "Montpelier Square" and then Rimmel space dust in this lovely silver shade "Shooting Star".

(I don't own this photo).

I'm extremeley super duper excited at the news of the Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay! As I already own a Naked 2 palette (and think it's AMAZING), I am so excited at the launch of the Naked 3! This palette looks a lot less nude/taupe like, with more rosy pink shades, although a few darker shades which will look lovely blended with one another.  I don't think a launch date for the UK has been announced yet, but I definitely can't wait to get my mitts on one of these!

Christmas candles!

Hello, I can't believe it's nearing the end of November, and frankly, how quick this year has gone! It's literally flown by.  I'm blogging right now about one of my favourite interests, and that's Yankee candles, specifically talking about the ones I'm loving now, ready for the Christmas season. I know it isn't quite December yet, but I've already been burning mine, as I guess you don't just want to use them the week of Christmas, it's nice to use your festive candles in plenty of time!  I've gone a little crazy (as I do with everything, why buy one lipstick from a collection when you can buy five right?), and I've purchased loads of samplers, and then a few jars in ones I've particularly enjoyed, here are my favourite Yankee Candles for the Christmas season!

The first candle I've been loving is "Sparkling Snow", this is GORGEOUS. I love pine scented/fresh candles that remind me of being outdoors in the forrest, and this scent reminds me exactly of that, but slightly more Christmassy. I know it isn't described as anything remotely like that, but I get the fresh, pine scent you get from real Christmas trees, and I think it is perhaps one of my favourite scents.  I bought this in a sampler, but after loving is so much, I decided I needed a jar! This is perhaps one of my all time favourite Yankee Candles, and I'm going to savour it, as it's only out at this time of year!

The second Christmas themed candle I've been loving is "Snowflake Cookie", which is a brand new Christmas scent for 2013.  This is sweet, girly but incredibly nice.  As I've mentioned before, I'm rather easily pleased when it comes to scents, as I like most (fruity, floral, sweet, spicy etc), so I like mainly any Yankee candle, but maybe if you're not too keen on the sweetie scented candles, this wouldn't be for you, however try it and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised!

This is the ultimate Christmas candle! It says it on the tin (jar even?), it's the perfect Christmas Eve candle. You know that excited, special feeling that's in the air on Christmas Eve? This almost expresses that perfectly, through its scent. I can't really describe how this smells...other than perfectly Christmassy! I know this is a popular scent yearly, and I totally get why, If you're as big of a Yankee Candle fan as I am, you need this is your collection to burn this Christmas!

My favourite little samplers and tarts!
L-R :

  • Winter Wonderland.
  • Christmas Treats.
  • Christmas Memories.
  • Merry Berry.
  • Cranberry Ice.
  • Red Apple wreath.
  • Apple and Pine needle.
  • White Christmas.

I also got a super cute Christmas candle holder!   I hope this blog has inspired you to buy some Christmas candles, as they really do add such a lovely touch at this time of year!

I've never spoken about music before on my blog...until now, and this is a because I am incredibly happy that the awesome Lily Allen is BACK!  I'm an absolutely MASSIVE fan of Lily, I have been for a few years, pretty much since she burst onto the music scene with her cheeky lyrics, dress and trainers for her debut single "Smile". I've always loved Lily because she is REAL, she doesn't sugarcoat anything, doesn't pretend to be perfect, and is just fnun, cheeky...and maybe a little bit naughty, I genuinely think she's amazing.  I've been to see her in concert at Cardiff's Motorpoint arena  (when it was known as the CIA) before her hiatus, and she was just as brilliant live.  Her new song "Hard Out Here" (#HOH) does not disappoint, it's typical Lily, with her satirical lyrics and jabs at fellow artists (naming no names!).   I'm so happy Lily is back, and excited to hear what is to come!  PS, I absolutely love how she sings on the John Lewis Christmas advert, which is the most adorable thing ever! Lily's awesome new song in the link below :)
