Audrey's classic look never goes out of style, she's such an all time classic icon.

Trying something different.

At some point in our lives, we all have tended to stick to the same thing, or been afraid to try something different, and in some cases just sticking to what we know works. This is perfectly fine, as if you've found out what works for you and what doesn't, it's great that you've found a look you can perfect and suits you, but recently I've found myself keen to experiment with beauty a bit, and shake up the routine I tend to be stuck in.

One of my statement looks is definitely red lipstick, I am a slave to it, it's my go to colour, the thing I wear to perk my entire look up, AHHHHHH it's just my life. But recently I've been keen to tone it down a little for the daytime, and keep red for a more statement look, so I've been experimenting with pinks, berry colours and purples. Granted, purple is probably even more of a statement than red lipstick, and pure purple is probably almost definitely suited to evening wear, but pinky purple lipstick can be the perfect alternative to red lips.

The three lipsticks ranges I've found I like in these shades are

Collection 2000.
Kate Moss for Rimmel.
Rimmel "apocalips" lip laquer.

Collection 2000 "Cream Puff" is also a great alternative if you don't want too "done". They're a subtle lip colour which looks really natural, is really moisturising and has a lovely matte look.

Also, another form of beauty experimentation I've been trying is brighter nail varnishes. I've always been attracted to vampier nail colours, such as black, berry, and red, but this summer I've been really attracted to pastel colours such as blueberry, mint green, and nudes.   I have never been a fan of anything neon, neon clothing is something I steer well away from, but I've actually found that a neon nail varnish can make the world of difference. If your outfit is plain, and neutral, the best way to brighten up an outfit is by the little touches, like your nails, without it being too much, for example a bright yellow nail, can look fabulous with a black dress, sounds horrible, looks surprisingly lovely! Nail varnishes are the best way to incorporate something different into your look, without it being too much.

I've been loving Maybelline's Colour Show gel nail varnishes, they're only £2.99, and they're long lasting and give a gorgeous gel look, like you've had a gel manicure!   You can get shades from neon to dark to nude to clear, experimenting has never been so easy!

So I hope this has inspired you to try something different, even the littlest things can make your routine far more exciting!

Pamper yourself.

One of my favourite things to do, is have a pamper night, and frankly every night is acceptable. If you've had a particularly long day, or you've been busy lately and just want to relax, then a pamper night is definitely one of the best things to do.  As I buy a LOT of beauty products, more often than not just buying things I don't need, and then struggling to find a place to store them, I find it's the best way to use your products and to see what works for you and what doesn't, so run yourself a bath, and lie back and relax!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED :

  • A bath bomb (Preferably from LUSH, they're AMAZING).
  • Candles.
  • Bubble bath.
  • Body wash.
  • Body Scrub.
  • A face mask.
  • A good book/magazine (optional)
  • A glass of wine maybe?!
  • Probably the most important one = A Bath!

This is my favourite bath bomb, it's called "Dragon's egg" and it's from LUSH cosmetics, it has a citrus scent, like orange and grapefruit, with a little lavender to relax. It's such a cool bath bomb, when you use it, watch the surprise in the middle!

I am a HUGEEEEE fan of Yankee Candles, in fact, I just love candles in general, and think they definitely add that little touch to feeling more relaxed and pampered. I have so many different scents, so take a look at their website and there are LOADS, if you like fruity, fresh, floral etc, they have a great range.  You can also use scented tea lights, you can get some great ones from Primark.

Some of my favourite body products!

Two great face masks, "No Clogs Allowed" by Soap & Glory, and "BB Seaweed" by LUSH cosmetics.

Plus that cheeky glass of wine!

Happy Pampering! :D

Pretty dresses.

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved pretty dresses. I think they instantly make you feel better, more feminine and glam, even in the day time and it's a casual dress. Dresses are all i've been wearing lately in this lovely weather, and I find they're great value for money as you can bring them out every summer and wear with bare legs, and team them with thick tights and a coat in the Winter. I love all kinds of dresses, but nothing too revealing, or tacky!  My favourite style tends to be a tea dress, which is short capped sleeves, and usually a tulip style for the skirt, which really flatters my figure, and makes me feel the most comfortable! I also find no matter how much I wear a dress, I never feel bored or fed up with it.

As I LOVE LOVE LOVE polka dots, hearts, bows, basically anything kitsch, and I'm a huge fan of all things pin-up, I love taking inspiration from 50's style clothing, and anything that reminds me of Katy Perry.

I think all these dresses look great with accessories such as bags, sunglasses, jewellery, tights, boots, anything! And no dress is complete without a slick of red lipstick, the ultimate finishing touch!

I'm also a lover of 60's style glam shift dresses, which are more suitable for the evening, although with the right accessories, hair and make-up, I'm sure you can work them for the day, for example, adding ankle socks and brogues really make the outfit more quirky for the day, and just add heels for the night!

I usually buy my dresses from Topshop, Motel, Urban Outfitters etc, and I'm always looking out for new, interesting ones!

Girl crush on 70's/80's Debbie Harry.

I love girls with attitude, who act like independent women, which is incredibly refreshing. Debbie embodies Rock and Roll, yet whilst being incredibly cool and refreshing at the same time. I love her fishnets, messy blonde bob and obviously striking red lips, she's awesome!

Let's go to MAC!

For soooooooo long, I've heard so much about the make-up brand "MAC" especially the foundation, and I've been really looking forward to buying one, I've got two MAC lipsticks, two nail varnishes and a pressed powder, so my next MAC purchase was going to be the foundation.

When I went into MAC to purchase my foundation, which is a Studio fluid fix, which contains SPF 15, it was mind boggling which shade was the right one, as there were soooooo many! The sales assistant approached me, and usually this kind of annoys me, as it's usually to try and push you into buying something...but luckily on that particular day I was going to buy something. She sat me down and started applying a shade she felt would suit me best, as she was very pale like myself, and said that I would suit exactly the same shade that she wears. After it was applied, I was AMAZED by how flawless my skin looks, and as being a young woman, I'm not exempt from bad skin from time to time, but I was astonished at how good this foundation made my skin look!    It cost £22, which is waaaaay more than I usually spend on a foundation, around the £8 mark is what I consider "normal", but this was a treat and it's brilliant.

I even walked away with a concealer to match!

The good thing that day about having a make-up artist assist me was she matched both the concealer and the foundation to one another, as believe me, it is truly mind boggling with the wide range of different shades that are available.

Next on my MAC list in the studio fix powder in the same range, which will complete my base!

Flawless face!

I recently bought this, "Lasting Perfection" concealer by Collection 2000, in the lightest shade, which is fair (a shade above light, strange I know).  I decided to purchase this after watching many beauty video blogs, and this seemed to feature heavily in a good few of them, so I was curious to see what the fuss was all about!  It cost just over £4, and I can already tell after about a week of using that this will become a regular part of my make-up routine.  It looks rather gloopy and at first I assumed it would be difficult to blend it, but I couldn't be more wrong! It blended in perfectly, and it really made me look about 10 times more awake and gave my face a real glow. I apply this under my eyes, on any blemishes on my chin and nose and then blend, seriously once you buy this you'll realise you couldn't live without it. It seems just like a basic, ordinary concealer that's neither "here nor there", or the kind that you think "this is alright", but believe me, it's brilliant!

Summer, summer, summertime!

Hi!  As lately, we have had a beautiful visit from Mr Summer (about time!), I've found myself changing a lot of my beauty routines to suit this hot weather, for example, too much make-up is a big no no in this weather!

I've been loving a few products in particular for the summer, from certain nail varnish colours, to moisturisers and I think that everyone should adapt their beauty routines for the summer, as it can make your life a lot easier!

My last blog post was surrounding my favourite summer nail colours (check it out), and I still think that nails are big part of making you look and feel more summery. My favourite colour at the moment is definitely "Guava" by Barry M, looks fab on your hands and feet, and would look great if you are lucky enough to get a natural tan! (Sadly, I'm still working on that one, my skin finds it hard to do anything other than stay white, go a little red, then back white).

"Guava" shade.

I've always been a fan of Palmer's Cocoa butter, in fact I use it all throughout the year, it's definitely one of my favourite body moisturisers, it smells AMAZING, is so nourishing and gives you a healthy sheen. I don't know why, but I really associate it with Summer, I think it's probably because the smell of cocoa reminds me of something rich and exotic, and it just reminds me of the beach! Strange I know, but I think it's amazing as an all over moisturiser, and the healthy glow just looks fab!  It also costs around £2/3, so it doesn't break the bank...and for something so good, it's well worth it!

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula.

The next thing I SWEAR by is Maybelline Beauty Balm, which I think is brilliant, and perfect for the hot weather!   I use this all throughout the year, I use it before my foundation, but I only use a little, as well as only using a little foundation, I hate that caked on look! But for the Summer, I'm just using this as an alternative to foundation, as it's so lightweight, doesn't clog your pores and still provides great coverage!   I use the light shade, as I do in all things to do with foundations and powders, as I am very pale! It comes in light, medium and dark and is the perfect thing for your skin in the Summer, they also contain SPF which is definitely a must!

Maybelline BB, 8-1 beauty balm.

In the Summer, I despise strong, heady fragrances, just as I despise dark nail colours in the Summer, I definitely think certain things belong in certain seasons!   That's why my all time favourite perfume for the spring/summer months is "Daisy" by Marc Jacobs.  I received this is a gift for my 18th birthday, and ever since it has been my favourite.  It's light, flowery, classy and also it helps the bottle is absolutely gorgeous!   I also have this fragrance in the 'Fresh' version, I had that for my birthday this year, and they both are very flowery (obviously), and they are just fresh, pretty fragrances that I love!

I have found myself in recent weeks adding neutral eyeshadow to my make-up routine, and I have mainly been using shades from MUA's "Undressed" palette, I also own the "Undress me too" palette, but I haven't got round to using it just yet! The Undressed palette contains a range of matte shades, to shimmery shades and I use the third shade from the left top row all over my eyelids everyday, for a natural colour before applying my liquid liner. I only ever used to wear eyeshadow when I was on a night out, usually smokier shades, but I've found everyday nude shadow can really make a difference.

MUA "Undressed" eyeshadow palette.

The sun can be very drying, especially on your lips, that's why one of my all year round saviour products once again proves to be my number one, Vaseline!   I own all four (lol, of course, I do have collective OCD) and they all prove useful and helpful at certain times.  Regular Vaseline, Aloe Vera, Rosy lips and Cocoa butter all have their place in my beauty routine. Regular and Aloe Vera are great just to soothe chapped lips, whereas Rosy lips is great for everyday use when you don't want to wear any lip colour, but just want a rosy healthy sheen, and cocoa butter is great for the sun, gives your lips extreme moisture, and smells great!  They don't cost the earth, and can be also used to soften your eyelashes, and smooth your eyebrows, everyone needs Vaseline in their life!

  • Cocoa Butter Vaseline.
  • Rosy Lips Vaseline.
  • Original Vaseline
  • Aloe Vera Vaseline.

I do believe that you should alter your beauty routine in the different seasons, and simple adaptions, like switching your regular foundation to something more lightweight can make the world of difference. You should drink plenty of water, use SPF on your skin, and wear sunglasses to keep yourself safe, and enjoy the sun whilst it's here! Happy Summer!

Coco Mademoiselle BARGAIN!

I recently purchased "Suddenly, Madame Glamour", a fragrance made by the supermarket Lidl's, and I can clarify, yes it is amazing, and will save you so much cash, as it is a brilliant match for Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume! I purchased this for an amazing £4, a huge different from the staggering £60+ that Chanel charge, and I was amazed by the similarity. I didn't get this idea myself, as I had heard others previously comment that it had a resemblance, but I was so curious, as I adore Coco Mademoiselle, that I had to find out for myself, if I could get the same smell, just for the bargain price of £4.    I would definitely recommend this to those who love Chanel's perfume, but would rather pay a lower price tag, I still am amazed at how good this is, buy it!

It's an extremely glamorous, sophisticated fragrance, and it has notes of citrus, rose, vanilla and musk, and it just makes you feel very elegant, so happy I've discovered this, at a bargain price tag!

Summer nails with Barry M.

Although I am forever buying nail polish, nails are probably my least favourite beauty routine to do! I love my nails being painted and buying new colours, but I hate the hassle of painting them as I ALWAYS tend to smudge them, and they very rarely look neat and tidy weehhh!  However, I have recently been loving Barry M's Gelly high shine polishes, and I think they're perfect for Summer.

The Four colours I have picked out as my favourites are :

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in "Blueberry".

Barry M Gelly Hi- Shine in "Guava".

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in "Lychee"

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in "Blue Grape"

Give your face some H20!

I recently purchased this, being the complete beauty addict that I am (forever buying products that I probably don't even need), but this highly intrigued me, as it's something completely different. I purchased this at Tesco, it was £4.99 and luckily, at that time it was buy one get one free!
